84 Lumber Green Building Initiatives

At 84 Lumber, environmental stewardship begins at home. A coordinated recycling program ensures that all paper, boxes and aluminum at corporate headquarters are recycled. Through our satellite shipping program, we reduced diesel fuel consumption by more than 1,000,000 gallons since its 2008 inception.

When our associates leave a meeting room they turn off the lights, and computers are powered down at night. All glass and plastic is recycled as well. Little things for sure, but they all add up in the bigger picture.

Today 84 Lumber is at the forefront of "green" building and proud to be a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Green Building Alliance (GBA), and Green Build Texas.

Many of our products are eligible for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) points. LEED promotes an entire building approach to human and environmental health including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Whether new construction or remodeling, residential or commercial, we can help you build "green" on any project. We provide an array of energy efficient and sustainable building products including I-Joists, non-metallic treated lumber, composite decking, drywall and windows.

Currently, 84 Lumber has 52 locations that are FSC® certified.

84 Lumber Company is proud to announce their newest green initiative, GreenEdge Supply. The website serves as a vital resource for our customers to research, network, communicate, and build on the standards of the green building industry. Our product lines aim to save energy costs, improve productivity and help preserve our environment. These efficiencies translate to cost competitive products and services, all of which can be purchased either online at www.greenedgesupply.com or at any of our (250) 84 Lumber store locations.
