For 24 days in a row, starting on Giving Tuesday all the way through December 23rd, 84 Lumber announced a new donation daily on social media through our 24 Days of Giving digital advent calendar. At the end of the 24 days, 84 Lumber donated a total of $84,000. Keep reading for a list of all our donations!
Day 1: $8,400 to the Fisher House Foundation
To kick-off our 24 Days of Giving, we donated $8,400 to the Fisher House Foundation. The Fisher House Foundation builds homes where military & veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved on is in the hospital.
Day 2: $844 to Blue Star Moms
84 Lumber is proud to support Blue Start Moms. Made up of moms, Blue Star Moms is a support through service organization that shares pride, devotion and worries for sons and daughters currently serving in all branches of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Day 3: $5,000 to Toys for Tots
The annual 96.1 KISS - Pittsburgh Stuff-A-Bus event supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is one of our favorite holiday traditions! This year, 84 Lumber donated $5,000 for our 3rd day of giving.
Day 4: $2,500 to WTAE’s Project Bundle Up
WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up provides all NEW warm, winter outerwear – including coats, hats, gloves, and boots - for children and senior citizens from low income households throughout Western PA.
Day 5: $884 to The Village of Children & Families
For day 5, we headed to New Jersey to donate to The Village of Children & Families. Their vision is to create a place where foster families are supported and can shop for supplies for the children they are caring for, at no cost to them.
Day 6: $2,884 to the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati
For day 6 of our 24 Days of Giving, we donated $2,884 to the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati. For almost 50 years, the Spina Bifida Coalition has been "Empowering" individuals with spina bifida to become stronger and more confident.
Day 7: $2,884 to the Gary Sinise Foundation
84 Lumber is proud to help honor American heroes. The Gary Sinise Foundation, serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. Our donation will help create and support unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.
Day 8: $5,000 to Rebuilding Together
Repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives. Rebuilding Together aims to provide safe homes and communities for everyone, and we are proud to offer our support.
Day 9: $1,500 to the San Antonio Food Bank
For day 9 of our 24 Days of Giving, we headed to San Antonio, Texas! 84 Lumber is proud to have donated $1,500 to the San Antonio Food Bank to help fight hunger and feed hope in San Antonio and Southwest Texas.
Day 10: $8,400 to ABC Food Tours
Founded by Matt James and Tyler Cameron, ABC Food Tours aims to create experiences for students facing challenges in food insecurity and adversity at home.
Day 11: $2,084 to Feeding America
84 Lumber is proud to support Feeding America as they continue to build a better future for families and communities across the United States.
Day 12: $884 to the T.G. Howard Community Center
Based in Pulaski Virginia, their goal is to connect the community to cultural events and local support services to empower individuals and families in an inclusive environment.
Day 13: $3,360 to Trees 4 Troops
For day 13 of our 24 Days of Giving we donated $3,360 to Trees 4 Troops! With our donation, we were able to provide Christmas trees to 84 military families!
Day 14: $5,000 to Folds of Honor
By donating $5,000 to Folds of Honor, we are providing one scholarship for a military family! Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled members, and we are proud to continue our support.
Day 15: $884 to the Golden Girls Group Home
Golden Girl is a group home for teenage girls who have been abused, neglected, orphaned or for another reason can’t live in their natural home.
Day 16: $884 to the Peter Powerhouse Foundation
The Peter Powerhouse Foundation was formed to improve the lives of children that are currently fighting childhood cancer. With our donation, we are proud to help provide donations to pediatric cancer treatment facilities, and contribute financial support to researchers to improve the lives of childhood cancer survivors.
Day 17: $2,884 to the Epilepsy Foundation
Supporting the Epilepsy Foundation makes a difference. With our $2,884 donation, we hope to promote awareness and inspire action together in the fight against epilepsy.
Day 18: $5,400 to Allegheny General Hospital
84 Lumber is proud to support our Pittsburgh community. December 17th, we sponsored all parking in the James Street Garage at Allegheny General Hospital for patients and their families.
Day 19: $1,500 to Wreaths Across America
Day 20: $2,884 to Girls Who Code
As a woman owned company, we are proud to support Girls Who Code's mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.
Day 21: $2,084 Homes For Our Troops
84 Lumber is proud to support Home For Our Troops through their mission to provide specially adapted, custom homes nationwide for severely injured veterans.
Day 22: $1,932 Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge
Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge is an all volunteer, nonprofit, dedicated to providing a better life for abused, neglected and abandoned canines; especially those which are chained or penned without human companionship.
Day 23: $5,884 to St. Jude
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. 84 Lumber is proud to support St. Jude as they lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Day 24: $10,000 to the Friends of Pittsburgh Fisher House
For our final day of giving, we donated $10,000 to the Friends of Pittsburgh Fisher House. Our donation will help support the organization’s second build for military families in the Pittsburgh community.
