Eighty Four, Pa. (March 28, 2025) – 84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately held supplier of building materials, donated $15,000 of building materials in support of the Rebuilding Hollers Foundation on a special edition of ABC’s Good Morning America live yesterday from Asheville, North Carolina. The donation will aid in the ongoing efforts to help rebuild communities in Yancey and Mitchell Counties. Rebuilding Hollers has already initiated over 385 active projects, working to restore homes, businesses, farms, workshops, and art studios in the region. You can view the segment here.
This donation comes on the six-month milestone marking the arrival of Tropical Storm Helene in Western North Carolina. Good Morning America broadcast live from Asheville during a special two-hour segment, "Asheville Rising," from 7 to 9 a.m. on March 27. The special highlighted the region's recovery progress and ongoing challenges following the catastrophic impact of Helene, which caused widespread destruction and claimed lives.
“84 Lumber has a long-standing commitment to helping communities in need, and we are proud to be part of the Rebuilding Hollers’ mission,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing at 84 Lumber. “This donation is just one way we can give back to our neighbors and help create a better future for Asheville.”
The $15,000 in materials will be available at the local 84 Lumber store on Montgomery Street in Asheville. Store Manager Ryan Adair and his team will be on hand to assist Rebuilding Hollers with providing the materials needed to make headway on their first project.
Tropical Storm Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane and was downgraded as it reached Western North Carolina on Sept. 27, 2024. The storm unleashed precursor rainfall that led to severe flooding, landslides, and high winds, decimating homes, businesses, and entire communities.
Rebuilding Hollers is dedicated to supporting the recovery of these communities by providing critical construction materials and labor for families and businesses impacted by the storm. For more information on Rebuilding Hollers and to support its efforts, visit rebuildinghollers.org.
